A JPG is a single flat photo compressed with lossy DCT math, so it has no depth channel and no alpha, just a grid of pixels shot from one camera angle. Hyper3D does not simply repackage those pixels: an AI reconstruction model looks at the shape, shading and edges in the photo and infers a full 3D surface behind, around and underneath the subject, filling in the geometry the camera never saw.
STL is the oldest and simplest 3D file format, storing a model as a raw list of triangles with no color, no texture and no material data, which is exactly what most desktop 3D printers and slicers expect. The single biggest factor in STL quality is the source photo, not the converter. Shoot the subject in even, diffuse light with no hard shadows, fill the frame so the object takes up most of the shot, and avoid busy backgrounds that can confuse the reconstruction model about where the subject ends. A slight three-quarter angle that shows depth works better than a flat, straight-on shot, and reflective or transparent objects like glass or chrome tend to reconstruct poorly because the AI has no clean edges or shading gradient to read.
Once you have the STL, open it in Meshmixer or Blender to check wall thickness and inspect for any thin bridges before you slice. Meshmixer's inspector tool will flag and can auto-repair small non-manifold spots left by the reconstruction. From there, import into Cura, PrusaSlicer or Bambu Studio, add supports for steep overhangs, and consider scaling the model up 10 to 20 percent if fine details like fingers or fabric folds look too thin to survive printing.
